Our Platform:
Civil Rights--Discrimination severely limits the economic and social opportunities available to Hispanic Americans. HHS of Texas conducts advocacy activities in the civil rights arena in order to promote and protect equality of opportunity in voting and education for all Latinos.
Entertainment--We actively support up and coming Latinos in the music and television industry. HHS believes in fostering the talents of our youth.
Education--HHS of Texas supports policies and initiatives that seek to increase access to and retention in postsecondary education for Latino students. We also promote cultural awareness by conducting different contests through our school districts.
Civic Participation--The right to vote is a fundamental and basic right guaranteed to all U.S. citizens by the Fifteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Every voter has the right to cast an informed and effective vote. This right is extended to all people, including those for whom English is not their first language.
Service--HHS of Texas members are engaged in a variety of community service projects that achieve progress through a positive approach. We help low income schools and communities with programs that help raise the standards of living.
Cultural Awareness--There are different Hispanic cultures, but as Hispanics, we are united as Tejanos.
History--It is our duty to teach fellow Tejanos about our beautiful history and contributions to the great state of Texas.
